Character Education
2022-2023
The books are found in our media center's book room. After you sign in at the front office you will go to the media center and once you walk in, turn right and there is a small book room on the right. Go into the room and the books are found in tubs to your right (just under the light switch.) There is a sign out on a clip board. Take the colored folder you need and return it when you finish. You do not need to check in with Mrs. Ledford or Mrs. Hong.
Click on each Character Education Trait and then your child's corresponding grade to find a book that emphasises that trait. The lesson plan will have questions you can discuss with your child and most of the books are available at either our libary or the public library! Happy reading while building GREAT character! We are always excited to hear of new choices for each trait, so if you have a good book to recommend, email Mrs. Stavrakakis at nstavrakakis@wcpss.net or Mrs. Armstrong at tarmstrong@wcpss.net.
Never hesitate to reach out if you have questions!

Previous Years Instructions: Each month we would like for a volunteer to come into the classroom to read a book and have a discussion around a specific Character Education Trait. We have made this super easy for you because if you click on a month/trait below you will go to grade specific lessons. Each lesson plan lists the book you will read (which we provide for you) and has a series of discussion questions. There is also a small poster describing the trait. The books and lessons are found in our media center. When you come to school, please sign in at the front desk and then proceed to the media center. There are two books per lesson so two parents per grade level can do this activity at the same time. Please see the Room Parents for the sign up! Another nice tip: check out the lesson plan before you go into the classroom so you have a heads up about what you will be discussing. If you have questions, please ask Nancy Stavrakakis and Rachel Miller, school counselors!
